Herniated disc
Understanding pain – treating it effectively – stabilizing it sustainably.
Herniated disc
A herniated disc can cause severe pain – but it doesn't necessarily mean surgery. In many cases, a herniated disc can be treated. conservative, i.e., without surgery, treat very well.
Typical symptoms include:
- Back pain in the lumbar or cervical spine area
- Radiating pain into the leg or arm
- Numbness or tingling
- Loss of strength in individual muscle groups
- Movement restrictions
Crucial is a targeted, structured therapy – tailored to your individual symptoms.
What happens during a herniated disc?
Between the vertebrae lie intervertebral discs, which act like shock absorbers. In a herniated disc, disc tissue protrudes and can press on nerve structures. This causes pain or neurological symptoms.
Important:
Not every lesion visible on an MRI causes symptoms – and not every lesion requires surgery.
clinical symptoms are crucial.
Our therapy for herniated discs
In our physiotherapy practice, we follow a clear approach:
1. Pain relief & relief
- targeted manual techniques
- Mobilization of the spine
- Nerve mobilization
- Instructions for relieving positions
2. Stabilization & Muscle Building
- targeted training of the deep core muscles
- Building up the postural muscles
- KG on the device (KGG) for structured strengthening
- Functional training for everyday life and work
3. Movement training
- Optimization of posture and movement patterns
- back-friendly lifting and carrying
- ergonomic consultation (e.g. workplace)
Our goal is to make you resilient again – not just pain-free, but stable and safe in everyday life.
When is physiotherapy particularly important?
- Following a recent diagnosis
- After a hospital stay
- After a herniated disc surgery
- For recurring back pain
- To prevent further incidents
-
Especially during the development phase, targeted training determines whether symptoms become chronic or disappear permanently.
Conservative before surgical
Studies show that many herniated discs improve significantly within weeks to months with conservative therapy. Exercise, targeted stress, and muscle strengthening are crucial factors in this process.
Surgery is usually only necessary in cases of severe neurological deficits or certain emergencies.
Our approach: Individual instead of standard program
Every herniated disc is different. That's why we create an individual therapy and treatment plan for you.
Training plan – adapted to:
- Pain pattern
- agility
- Power status
- occupational stress
- sporting goals
-
