HEALTH CENTER AT WELLCOM

Holistic health promotion under one roof

We introduce ourselves

The Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy Center in Großkrotzenburg was established in September 2003. The center is the regional specialist for the rehabilitation of chronic illnesses and acute injuries in the orthopedic, surgical, and neurological fields, as well as in prevention, health promotion, performance diagnostics, and corporate health promotion.
In line with the PSZ's goals of providing holistic and interdisciplinary care and treatment for members and patients, the Wellcom Health Center, covering 600 square meters, is designed to offer employees at the Hanau-Wolfgang location an optimal environment to ensure their health, fitness, and well-being.

concept

The concept envisions a four-tiered division of the health center's areas of activity according to the various levels of action necessary for holistic health promotion: training, prevention, therapy, and care. The good news is, your employer contributes!
OUR SERVICES

The training area

The training area represents the core of the health center. Members can participate in health-oriented training on a voluntary basis. This area includes a range of equipment including conventional sequential training machines and a computer-assisted circuit training system, as well as free weights for strengthening large and small muscle groups, as well as a small equipment area for targeted functional and stabilization training. The training area also includes an IronQube and a functional area for bodyweight training.
In this way, the health center combines tried-and-tested methods with new, innovative trends to inspire employees to participate in sports and lead an active lifestyle.
The equipment can be used "paperless", meaning that planning, documentation and control of training are carried out digitally using your own work ID card.
For employees who prefer to experience training as a group activity, we offer special group courses in addition to our traditional courses. These are available in small groups of 4-8 people, supervised in the equipment area rather than in the classroom.
In the endurance area, cardio equipment such as bicycle ergometers and crosswalkers are used.
The training area is supervised by expert staff who, among other things, instruct you on how to use the equipment, develop training plans, assist you with the exercises, and act as a contact person for all training and health-related questions.

TRAINING

The area of therapy

In addition to training, the health center also offers a wide range of therapies, specifically physiotherapy and physical therapy. Specializing in trauma, orthopedic, and surgical therapy, employees can have virtually all major musculoskeletal complaints and illnesses treated by trained physiotherapists and massage therapists. In one of the three treatment rooms, at 25-minute intervals, the most important therapeutic measures for pain in the active and passive musculoskeletal system, back and disc problems, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, knee and hip joint problems, and also after accidents involving passive or active structures (e.g., shoulder dislocation, ankle sprain, partial or severe cruciate ligament tears, meniscus problems) can be applied. These include physiotherapy, manual therapy, classic massage therapy, connective tissue massage, lymphatic drainage, and heat and cold therapy. Thanks to our proximity to the training area and our collaboration with sports and exercise therapy specialists, even more complex forms of therapy, such as the "combined therapeutic prescription" ("D1") or "physiotherapy using a device" ("KGG"), can be carried out without any problems. To offer high-quality therapy, we primarily consider good therapist training to be the foundation. Classic quality characteristics of a physiotherapy practice, such as no unnecessary therapist changes, detailed initial assessment, discussion of examination results, as well as a therapeutic treatment prognosis and final report, are our top priority in everyday practice. Naturally, these aspects should also become an important pillar of physiotherapy practice in the health center.

The area of prevention

Although voluntary training at the health center already counts as prevention, we see the focus of this area in subsidized prevention and health courses. The basis for this subsidy is the so-called "prevention paragraph" (Section 20 of the Social Code Book V). Here, the most important risk and action areas (lack of exercise, exercise and posture, obesity, cardiovascular disease) are addressed in a structured and controlled manner in a group setting. Prevention courses differ from traditional fitness and gymnastics courses in four respects: the qualifications of the instructors, the fixed group size, the set number of course units, and the sequential course structure with both practical and theoretical elements.
Health insurance companies subsidize participation in these courses once or twice a year with up to 100% of the course fee, provided the participant has attended at least 80% of the course dates. Participation in the prevention courses is available exclusively to health center members and is included in their membership fee; therefore, no separate course fee is charged. Receiving the health insurance subsidy can significantly reduce the annual studio membership fee. This will certainly provide additional financial incentive for some employees to become members of the health center.
In addition, concrete workplace-related measures represent another focus of the prevention area. The goal is to strengthen the health and well-being of employees through behavioral and situational prevention in the workplace and, on the other hand, to utilize their full potential. The target group here is primarily employees who, due to socio-demographic circumstances, would be inadequately addressed by the services offered by a health center and who are best reached at their workplace.
Starting from the health center, measures such as active breaks, back school at the workplace, ergonomic checks, screen workstation programs or other specific exercise training programs can be carried out generally or also target group-specifically (trainees, older employees, shift workers, etc.).

The care area

Holistic, corporate health promotion, manifested in the health center, involves all parties involved in this process. Corporate health promotion (CHP) in itself is only one component of the overall corporate health management (CHM) of the individual companies. Other areas include corporate health protection (CHS) with the company medical service, as well as those responsible for corporate reintegration (CHM) and employee counseling. These parties can work together optimally in a health center and the available facilities and support each other in the care of employees. In concrete terms, this could mean, for example, that regular health checkups can be carried out by the company doctor, who is supported by the team of trainers and therapists. The facilities, especially the course room, can be used by employee support for coaching and seminars (e.g., burnout prevention, stress management, etc.). The reintegration of sick or injured employees can also be carried out more effectively with the help of interdisciplinary cooperation. Advantages include shared interfaces between the parties and targeted therapy measures provided by the same staff for each individual employee. The people involved in the rehabilitation and reintegration process can also work together directly, consult with each other, and directly consider the specific conditions at the workplace. This enables a faster and safer reintegration of the employee. An attractive ambiance, an inviting entrance and reception area, a tidy training area, and functional yet comfortable changing rooms and restrooms make the health center a place where employees of all ages and constitutions enjoy using their free time to promote their health.
