HEALTH CENTER AT WELLCOM

Holistic health promotion under one roof

We introduce ourselves

The physiotherapy and sports therapy center in Großkrotzenburg has been in operation since September 2003. The center is the specialist in the region for the rehabilitation of chronic illnesses and acute injuries in the orthopedic, surgical and neurological fields, in prevention, health promotion and performance diagnostics, as well as workplace health promotion.
Analogous to the goals of the PSZ, namely the holistic and interdisciplinary care and treatment of members and patients, the health center in Wellcom, on 600 square meters, is also intended to offer employees at the Hanau-Wolfgang location an optimal environment to ensure health, fitness and well-being.

concept

The concept envisions a four-part division of the health center's activities, corresponding to the different levels of action necessary for holistic health promotion: training, prevention, therapy, and support. The best part? Your employer contributes!

The training area

The training area is the heart of the health center. Members can participate in health-oriented training here on a voluntary basis. This area includes a range of equipment consisting of traditional sequential training machines and a computer-assisted training circuit, as well as free weights for strengthening large and small muscle groups, and a small equipment area for targeted functional and stabilization training. The training area also features an IronQube and a functional training area for bodyweight exercises.
In this way, the health center combines proven methods with new, innovative trends to inspire employees to embrace sports and an active lifestyle.
The equipment can be used "paperless", meaning that planning, documentation and control of training are done digitally with the employee's own company ID card.
For employees who prefer to view training as a shared event, special group courses are offered in addition to the classic courses. These are available in small groups of 4-8 people, who are supervised not in the classroom, but in the equipment area.
In the endurance area, cardio equipment such as exercise bikes and cross trainers are used.
The training area is supervised by expert staff who, among other things, instruct users on how to use the equipment, develop training plans, provide support during exercises, and act as a contact person for all training and health-related questions.

TRAINING

The area of therapy

In addition to training, the health center also offers a comprehensive range of therapies on its premises, specifically physiotherapy and physical therapy. Specializing in traumatological, orthopedic, and surgical treatment, employees can have almost all significant musculoskeletal complaints and conditions treated by qualified physiotherapists and massage therapists. In one of the three treatment rooms, with 25-minute appointments, the most important therapeutic measures can be applied for pain in the active and passive musculoskeletal system, back and disc problems, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, knee and hip joint problems, as well as after accidents involving passive or active structures (e.g., shoulder dislocation, ankle sprain, partial or complete cruciate ligament tears or ruptures, meniscus problems). These include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, classic massage therapy, connective tissue massage, lymphatic drainage, and heat and cold therapy. Thanks to the proximity to the training area and the collaboration with sports and exercise therapy specialists, even more complex forms of therapy, such as the "combined prescription of therapeutic remedies" ("D1") or "therapeutic exercise with equipment" ("KGG"), can be carried out without any problems. To offer high-quality therapy, we consider a solid therapist training to be the primary foundation. Classic quality indicators of a physiotherapy practice, such as avoiding unnecessary changes of therapist, a thorough initial assessment, discussion of the examination results, as well as a therapeutic prognosis and final report, are of utmost importance to us in our daily practice. Naturally, these points will also become a key pillar of the physiotherapy practice at the health center.
PHYSIOTHERAPY

The area of prevention

Although even "voluntary training" at the health center can be considered preventative, we see the main focus of this area in the subsidized prevention and health courses. The basis for this subsidy is the so-called "prevention clause" (§20 SGB V). Here, the most important risk factors and areas for action (lack of exercise, movement and posture, obesity, cardiovascular diseases) are addressed in a structured and controlled group setting. Prevention courses differ from classic fitness and gymnastics classes in four ways: the qualifications of the instructors, the fixed group size, the set number of course sessions, and the sequential course structure with both practical and theoretical elements.
Health insurance companies subsidize participation in these courses once or twice a year, covering up to 100% of the course fee, provided the participant attends at least 80% of the sessions. This offer of preventative courses is exclusively for members of the health center and is included in their membership fee; no separate course fee is charged. Receiving the health insurance subsidy can significantly reduce the annual studio membership fee. This will undoubtedly provide some employees with an additional financial incentive to become members of the health center.
Furthermore, concrete workplace-related measures represent another key focus of the prevention area. The aim is to strengthen the health and well-being of employees through behavioral and environmental prevention measures in the workplace, and also to fully utilize their potential. The target group here primarily consists of employees who, due to socio-demographic factors, would be insufficiently reached by the services offered by a health center and who can best be reached at their workplace.
Starting from the health center, measures such as active breaks, back school at the workplace, ergonomic checks, screen workstation programs or other specific exercise training programs can be carried out generally or also in a target group-specific manner (trainees, older employees, shift workers, etc.).

The care area

Holistic workplace health promotion, manifested in the health center, involves all parties participating in the process. Workplace health promotion (WHP) itself is only one component of the overall workplace health management (WHM) of individual companies. Other areas include occupational health and safety (OHS) with the company physician, as well as those responsible for workplace reintegration (WHM) and employee counseling. These parties can collaborate optimally in a health center and its facilities, supporting each other in the care of employees. Specifically, this could mean, for example, that regular health checkups can be conducted by the company physician, supported by the team of trainers and therapists. The facilities, especially the training room, can be used by employee support for coaching sessions and seminars (e.g., burnout prevention, stress management, etc.). Furthermore, the reintegration of sick or injured employees can be carried out more effectively through interdisciplinary collaboration. Advantages include seamless integration between all parties and targeted therapy measures provided by the same staff for each individual employee. Those involved in the rehabilitation and reintegration process can also collaborate directly, coordinate with one another, and take into account the specific conditions at the workplace. This enables a faster and safer reintegration for the employee. An appealing atmosphere, an inviting entrance and reception area, a tidy training area, and functional yet comfortable changing rooms and restrooms make the health center a place where employees of all ages and physical abilities are happy to dedicate their free time to improving their health.
